The Commision
- Eaton Fine Art,
an innovative art resource Company, was contacted by Susan Caruso of
Intro Spec Design of Los Angeles. She was working on the restoration
of the Reliant. Built in 1895 by Daniel Burnham, Charles Atwood, and
John Welborn Root, a building ahead of its time. Sixteen stainless steel
stories high, was one of the country's first skyscrapers, located at
the corner of Washington and State streets in the heart of Chicago's
central business district.

by artist Ric Tringli, of San Francisco, depicting the 1983 Columbian
Exposition, for which hotel namesake and celebrated architect Daniel
Burnham was director of works..."

- The delicate exterior
terra cotta caste molding—a trademark of the Reliance Building—inspired
Caruso to use a similar caste capital molding for dramatic columns throughout
the lobby. Situated within the lobby is a comfortable "living room"
seating area aside a marble fireplace with deep mahogany leather sofas
and burgundy mohair side chairs accented by leopard print and gold pillows.

- Ric
Tringali has been exhibiting and working in the bay
area as a fine artist since the late seventies. Over the years he has
matured as an artist from his early works of paint, pastel and works
on paper, to his human scale geometric paintings of the eighties. Many
of these constructivist paintings are in major collections in the bay
area, and nationally and has been the recipient of many awards for his
fine art as well as his many commercial accomplisments. His commisioned
works of art are on display internationally. The works at the Ritz Carlton,
Dubi atest to his skill at executing works classical realism, and fantasy
art

Education,
He recieved his MFA and BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, and
studied under many of the bay elite, ie: Ivan Majdrakoff, Tom Holland,
Robert Hudson, Elmer Bishoff, Hassel Smith, Ursula Snieder, Bruce McGaw
to name a few. In addition to his fine arts training, Ricardo Tringali
also studied at the Kendall College of Art & Design, where he recieved
much of his fundamental training, as well as his extiensive background
in techniques and materials. And lastly, at Grand Valley State College,
in the painting department of TJC, Thomas Jefferson College, an experimental
school born in the sixties.
