Super Bombad Racing,
Lucas Learning

I was contacted mid project by Lucas Learning, as a texture artist, to complete the work begun by their development team. The task was to match the style and tone set out in the prototype, while relying heavily on the visual material from the Star Wars Series. Working closely with their level designers 8 worlds were fleshed out and built. Although a robust engine, you still had to be mindful that the texture limits were kept, and that an overall economy in size, palette and number of maps was strictly met.

"The Lucas Learning art group truly enjoys doing creative and fun projects that resonate with kids and fans of the Star Wars® saga. With Star Wars Super Bombad Racing™, we are developing a visual style not normally associated with a Star Wars game. This super deform style (the funny, huge heads on the characters, in little ships) allows us to have fun with the characters and what they would be doing. We can also make the locations unique from the sensible, realistic sci-fi environments normally associated with Star Wars. Here we are creating a context with fun and whimsy that would allow Yoda to overtake Darth Maul by bouncing on his head. The characters are still well-developed with a lot of what you'd expect in terms of actions, abilities and associatedgadgets, and each has their trademark spaceship or craft of some sort"
