"I was amazed with the quality of detailed and creative work Rona, Rick and John put together in a short time. Not only were they incredibly familiar with every aspect of web design that we asked about, but they brought real clarity, creativity and "mission focus" to the discussion." - Duncan Smith, Owner, Presidio Adventure Racing ![]() The Challenge Challenge is what brought Deloitte Consulting and Presidio Adventure Racing together. Last April, a group of 12 Deloitte Consulting employees met Presidio for a team building 'adventure race.' This six hour competition required the team to travel 15 miles, navigate through 8 checkpoints on various trails and mountain bike up the 2,600 foot summit of Mt. Tamalpias. Cathy Benko, Deloitte's Global e-Business Practice Leader, and Carol Lindstrom, Americas e-Business Unit West Coast Practice Leader, participated in the event. They found the experience so enjoyable that when they discovered that Presidio needed a website revamp, they offered to do the work pro bono. Presidio's
website needed an overall cohesive strategy. The site needed metatags
so it was easy to find, and required addition functionality so that its'
customers could register for and provide feedback on Presidio events.
The new site was to go live prior to Presidio's biggest event of the year,
the Presidio Challenge, taking place in October 2000. Additionally, Presidio
Adventure Racing had been written up in Business
2.0 and wanted readers to access the site and learn more about what
they had to offer. The Solution The e-Studio team employed a website design revision and incorporated active server pages, an access database and Microsoft IIS technology to the existing website. The Collaborative Approach Cathy Benko, Lead Partner Sponsor, and Duncan Smith, Presidio Adventure Racing's Owner, forged a team of Deloitte Consulting and Presidio employees to champion the project. Presidio's General and Marketing Managers along with a Deloitte Consulting project coordinator, project manager and technical consultant banded together to meet Presidio's goals. The initial meeting guided Presidio toward the vision of their new website. Deloitte Consulting then employed the e-Studio to execute upon that newly created vision. e-Studio's Creative and Art Directors met with Presidio to further define their needs and refine the vision. e-Studio steered the design towards a look and feel that would maintain Presidio's character and be engaging, fun and functional for the user. Presidio and e-Studio cycled through several iterations of design, each one honing closer to Presidio's end goal. e-Studio's technical consultant created and implemented online forms. Presidio had to gather much information and feedback from their customers, without bombarding them with a litany of form fields. Presidio Adventure Racing and e-Studio worked to determine which information fields should be included in the online forms. Online forms were created with active server pages, an access database and an ISP that enabled the use of functional online forms. |
